Jangle, jangle, hear the sound
Old bones restless underground
Each one a chapter of a season
Some clack and shake with a reason

Clitter, clatter, hear them talk
Some just speak, while others squawk
Each one a story of all its own
Make up a lifetime, bone by bone

Shatter, shatter, one speaks of lust
One shares a tale of lies and trust
A big bone cries out loud in vain
A small bone spills its loss and pain

Jiggle, jiggle, each one in turn
Rattles off a lesson learned
At last when each has spoke its piece
The clitter, clatter starts to cease

Silence, silence, not one peep
Rattlin' bones now fast asleep
For when this comes my time of day
I pray mine have as much to say
